    Heater control valves are pretty cheap. I picked one up for another project of mine a while ago. It is setup to have a cable attached to it. If you look at the 'frequently bought together' it should show you all the bits you would require.

    Or go super cheap and grab a water valve from a 70's ford then just use a choke cable and knob or throttle cable from a lawnmower.
