Obviously you're not familiar with LPG. In case of the Spacestar, you wouldn't pay more taxes if you have a LPG G3 installation installed with a small tank keeping the total weight of the car below 851 kg, as taxes in the Netherlands for LPG G3 and Petrol are the same below 851kg. Max tank capacity would be around 42 liters (70% of 42 being 30kg is being added to the weight of the car, staying at 850kg. Leaving you with 80% (safety fill level) of 42 liters= app. 33liters fill capacity.
If you want a bigger tank this would bring you into the next tax category (Paying 380,- instead of 248,- /year which is 132 euro more tax/year.
Fuel consumption om LPG will increase app. 20% (volumetricly) coming down from 1:20 on petrol to 1:18 on LPG (liter/km). On petrol the cost would be app: 1,65:20=8,2 cent/km on LPG 0,75:18=4.1 cent/km Difference: 4,1 cent/km
Having a G3 installation installed would cost you minimal 1600,- euro which is the price of around 970 liters Petrol .
It will take you app 39000km to earn this back, if you only drive 10.000km a year this would be around 4 years if you drive 20.000km/year you could earn it back in 2 years . But if you drive 50.000km a year, you would earn this back the first year leaving you with 2050,- - 1600,- =450,- euro in your pocket the first year and 2050,- the years to follow. My wallet sure as hell wouldn't complain.
You don't want to recalculate this when you have the option of tanking in Belgium with a price of 50 cent per liter LPG
But then again this will only be true if the engine runs OK on LPG and you don't run into problems like with the Mazda 2 Bi-Fuel
