    anti rust treatment (corrosion warranty?)

i wonder what they did whit the mirage /space star

because its so cheap and made in mailaysia i wonder if they cut corners about this.

i did see pictures where the ( lets say red ) color of the car is not painted al over the body so leaving 1 less protection layer at places ....

and do they give it a coating or do they drop the car into a static bad of protections layers?

Yes, I'm also wondering about the metal and paint quality on the Mirage. We have very HARSH weather here in Quebec, Canada and most cars look horrible after 10 years. Some even after only 3-5 years (Mazda 3). I would get my car rust treated right away, but some cars are more prone to rust no matter what you do. I had a 1998 Corolla which was never rust treated and up to this year, was totally rustless.

I noticed the rear fenders seem to have a substantial lip/projection/ledge that would almost certainly fill up with the sand/salt/slush mixture that is our Manitoba roads in winter. If I bought one, one of the things I would do is identify any places where water/salt could pool and cover them with some sort of treatment (line-x) and then take it to rust-check as well. Corrosion is a problem here. I have just bought old beaters for the most part, and accepted they would rust away. If I had a new car I would try to avoid rust for as long as possible.

They are sold all around the world, but none have harsher weather than us. I don't know about Manitoba, but I can only assume it's as bad, if not worse than Quebec. The problem is two-fold... The salt used for de-icing the roads and the intense variations in weather (very hot summer days, and very frigid winter days). I'd hate for us to be a Canadian experiment in cost-cutting to see what the minimum is in which they can get away with.

Good info. That's too bad they have the lip. I noticed a few cars in the last 10 years or so that are purposely avoiding that ledge inside the wheel arch. (VW is one.)

    ---

I went to the Mitsu Canada site to see if the warranty said anything about corrosion, but couldn't find any mention of it. I thought rust was part of normal new car warranties.

on a side node i see a lot of improvement possible with aerodynamics
dont see any plastics to cover up areas for better airflow
or did he remove it for the bars?

the exhaust seems already rusty.... spots on the silencer/mufler?
