When I first start the car, the little green thermometer lights up, indicating (I think) a cold engine (No owners manual) So the question is, should I not drive it until the engine heats up?

Drive it with the green temperature indicator active - just don't drive it hard. Engine oil works better when it's up to temperature.

I start driving within 2 min. of starting the car in winter or right away at temps above -10°C but stay at 2000 rpm or less untill the light goes out.
Will weld for beer.

There is no temperature gauge in this car...did you notice? Instead, we get what were referred to in the 1970s as 'idiot lights' for the temperature.
The green light will be on when the engine coolant is below something like 157 degrees. Then it goes off, as the engine is warmed up. An over-temp warning light will be a red version of the same. The green light is nothing to worry about, the red light IS.
I think we have only had one person here who has even seen the red over-temp light come on?
Green light = low temp warning light
Red light = high temp warning light
