I found this statistic interesting, so I looked it up. It turns out that the automakers quoted figures that included not just base pay & benefits to active workers but pension payments to retirees - a bit misleading. Also, this is old news. It was before the Great Recession which started more than ten years ago. Since then union workers have taken a cut in pay.
