Changed the air & cabin filter sourced from Aliexpress

Feeling in a adventurous mood last month and not wanting to pay what the local auto parts are charging I decided to experiment and order a cabin & engine air filter off of Aliexpress. The total for both was just over $15USD including shipping so I thought why not? I figured the filters were going to be some off brand garbage but this is what I got.

Apparently the Mirage uses the same air filter as a model of the Yaris and this is what I got. Fits perfectly and was very surprised of the manufacturer.

The cabin air filter was also a surprise on the manufacturer.

It would interesting if someone else ordered the same thing from this vendor to see if they get the same parts.

Tightened down my roofrack, make sure to check these at least once a year, especially when you have loads on top.Name: IMG_20230827_114320.jpg

I decided to play along & ordered one of each. The engine air filter was only $6.08 and the cabin air filter was $0.68. $7.76 for both, but shipping put it above $12. I will share what appears.

My Mirage is approaching 80,000 miles (was 79,900 today), & I have a couple big trips coming up in a couple weeks. Did a little Mirage TLC today!

I did my 5,000 mile engine oil/filter change today. 5W30 Super Tech Full Synthetic/Purolator ONE oil filter

I also did my 50,000 mile manual transmission change (2nd one). Redline MTL (used up the 2nd half of the gallon I purchased for the first change). The manual transmission oil looked super clean like last time. I did the first one at 30,000 miles, but I will stick with every 50,000 miles now.

I blew out my cabin air filter (clean or replace every 5,000 miles).

I checked my engine air filter (plan to replace @ 90,000 miles/every 30,000 miles unless it looks bad).

Cleaned up the wheels and gave the car a wash and wax. Wheels not perfect yet (misplaced my wheel brush, was short on time and had to make do with an old mitt and lug nut brush), Dookaughs did a tremendous job. But then again, these haven't been properly cleaned for over 30k kms, will need a second deep clean.

Its really stupid, but I always thought the Mirage Ralliart should have the sticker on the back... so i added one from a Lancer off Ebay. For some reason it makes me feel better, but again I know its stupid.[ATTACH]25761[/ATTACH

That is interesting. I'd be curious to compare them to the same parts sold over here. Are they really made by denso and mann or are they knock-offs?
A friend bought some parts for his Chinese Hisun brand side by side from amazon a while back. They were "vevor" brand. The parts didn't fit properly so he ended up ordering stuff direct from an actual Hisun dealer somewhere in Canada and explained that he wanted actual oem parts cause the vevor crap didn't fit properly. So the Genuine parts show up and they're the exact same Vevor parts, even had the same mfg date stamped on them but the Vevor brand was ground off. That went over well.

The air filter was in a Toyota OEM parts box and the cabin air filter was in a generic plain box.

The cabin air filter was $0.68. Shipping was $2.29! I don't gamble much, & no one probably calls me a big spender!

If they look like junk, I won't use them. I can blame inuvik, too!

I actually want to see what they look like. I buy the cheapest cabin air filters I can find anyways. Anything is better than nothing, & cars have existed long before cabin air filters.

I like the Wix engine air filter, but we'll see!

I doubt Toyota has their own Denso filter factory. The fact that it's a Denso air filter made in Japan is promising. Some are made in China & elsewhere. I drive a car made in Thailand. I don't know how bent out of shape I should get over stuff like this?
