    Got rear ended today.

    Well, it finally happened.
My little white golf ball got it's first ding. A little over 50,000 km with not a mark on it and some dick in a foolswagon tourag jumps the green and slams into the rear of my car while I'm stopped at a red light. I was quite suprised at how hard he hit me. Tweaked my lower back a bit due to where the seat hits me but I feel ok so far. Will see what hurts in the morning lol. Hit me hard enough to print "volkswagon" backwards on my rear bumper cover. Very little damage actually. Didn't crack or tear the plastic at all but did dig through the paint in a few places (down to the black plastic) and cracked the paint where it creased sharply at edge of license plate recess. It surely wont buff out but a quick paint job on bumper cover should take care of it. Hatch works and body seams look fine but I don't know if the "crumple zone" in rear steel bumper was compromised.
Have appointment Monday at dealer for repair estimate. Will see then if any real damage was done.
All in all I feel the car held up well for it's size considering the jolt I felt.

VW lists the 2016 Touareg at a curb weight of 4696 lbs, more than twice that of the Mirage.

Doh, sorry to hear that. I'm glad to hear you weren't more severely hurt though.

Feeling fine today so no whiplash.
All in all the Mirage kept me safe.
That's all I expect of it so, good to go.

I got rear-ended by a Subaru last month, hard enough that my 4-months-old Mirage sedan was a write-off. It was in a 70 km/h (44 mph) zone and the driver hadn't even seen me or touched her brakes.

I was impressed by how well the seat took care of me. I'm 6'6" and just a few twinges and aches over the next few days. The driver's seat was actually bent back at least a couple of inches by the impact.

I got a big dent in my hood a week after I got mine. I've come to learn that the Pearl White is expensive as hell to repaint. Something about it taking three layers of paint. Glad your OK.
