2014 US Mirage ES Rear Bumper Question....

    Hello Forum:
I recently bought a 2014 ES and when I dropped something on the ground the other day, I noticed at the top of my license plate, there are 2 long "Holes"...Immediatly, I thought that I was missing some sort of trim panel or something......

I did some research and that seems to be a design element on MOST 2014 US Mirage, however there are some photos that I've seen of the 2014 ES that doesn't have this......

I just want to make sure that my car isn't missing anything......or if anyone has some info on the different bumper styles I've seen. Seems really odd to have missing space like that.

I've attached a photo for reference.....

Nothing is missing. The holes should be there.

Is there any reason for this? Seems so odd and looks like something IS INDEED missing?

Could have been a mid-season design change or maybe sourced from a different vendor at manufacture.

Possibly, because I swear I have seen 14's with no holes above the bumper.....As long as my bumper isn't messed up, I can live with it.

Open your trunk and inspect the spare tire well, there's a buffeting valve there and it vents thru the holes

The valve is essentially a check valve, which is supposed to stop the helicopter effect with the Windows down.

Once upon a time i gutted my rear hatch area and it worked much better without the rubber mat blocking flow.

Spray this area for spiders if you do so, i treat my car every spring

Edit: i believe the light for the plate is also tucked up there
