Cigarette lighter comes out on 2017 Mirage?

Is this normal? I haven't used my cig lighter but noticed when i bought a dash cam that the cigarette lighter comes out a bit when you insert something into it. It only comes out so far before whatever you have attached comes out, and then you can push it back in.

Is this a normal thing or is this a defective feature i have to bring to the dealership's attention?

hmmm not a good sign...Maybe this might work, here is a link to the reddit post i made on mitsubishi... I think the links might work if viewed from there since the coding for images is specific for that site...

Mods, sorry if its not allowed linking to another site.

Ahhh damn, time to take it to the dealership on a day off then. Hopefully it's a minor fix. I tried rotating it to see if maybe there'd be a click or something but no such luck.

no the socket should not move within the plastic dash panel.
    Mine doesn't either.
There is a nut on backside of socket holding socket snugly to dash. This has likely come loose.
    Will weld for beer.

Not normal but Easy fix, they just push into the dash. There are 2 small square holes (across from each other) in the cig plug they fit into 2 notches in the black plastic that the metal slides into. Hope that made sense. The plastic if pretty soft and I mangled it trying to remove it from the dash.

I can't get a good pic but the notches are roughly in the 1 o clock and 7 o clock positions just to make things difficult. Maybe your's will pop back in place. Attachment 9877 Sorry pic is sideways..

I took it to the dealership today. They took it apart and tried getting at it from behind the cigarette lighter. They said that the clips which keep it in place were broken. They said it was the fault of the dashcam accessory i was using. They said it was too tight of a fit for the hole and when taking it out, it must've yanked and broke the plastic holding.

They did assign the blame on me although i don't ever remember yanking on it, they said they will replace it only once under warranty.

Either way at least it's getting fixed and i'll be sure to baby that port from now on and if it happens again...i suppose i'll try gorilla glue. Even if it does the tech said that the port isn't going to come out and it will still work.
