    Mirage suspension history (factory revisions/changes)

The Mirage's suspension has been an issue of debate since day one.

Not surprisingly, Mitsubishi has updated the suspension setup several times to improve upon things. This thread will attempt to document the changes.

    2014
    - Front and rear springs changed 7/2/14. New springs are assumed to be stiffer.

    2015
    - New front crossmember support.
    - New rear axle beam.

No 2016 model year, see 2017

    2017
    - New front strut.
    - New rear spring and shock.

    2018
    - ?

I hope to build this post with more info. Obviously the 2017 model will have changes.

The one thing I did find interesting is there are different springs for automatic vs manual trans. I'm hoping we can get some more info on this. Perhaps someone could measure their springs so we can see what the difference is?

I suspect it is the spring rate due to added CVT weight.

Possibly CVT springs are same rate just longer for same sag.

So, that could explain why the other mirages are stiffer than mine...

I could have sworn I have seen on here a summary of 2015 changes which noted revised springs and dampers. Was the change made in 2014 and simply marketed as 2015 change?

The change probably coincided pretty closely to the beginning of 2015 model year production. Manufacturers usually switch from one model year to the next starting in July or August.

My '15 was built in September of '14. Anybody have a '14 model with a 7/14 production date? Or, for that matter, a '15 with a 7/14 production date?

I just looked up numbers for the rear axle beam and the part number was changed for the 2015 model year. I've updated the first post to include these numbers and changes.

    2014 - 4120A139
    2015 - 4120A150

It would be pretty awesome if we could get some owners to share detailed pictures of their rear beams to see what the difference might be.

    I wonder what it'll be for 2017?

I don't see any difference in mine which is a 2015 made in July 14, probably more stability when welding the trailing arms to the beam itself. Mine is out slightly in camber but in specs for toe.

    regards
