It's typical for manual transmissions to have an unsynchronized reverse. Since the forward gears are synchronized, engaging a forward gear before sticking it into reverse synchronizes the input shaft...

Another potentially interesting thing about a Mirage sedan: it could have a better drag coefficient than the hatchback.
Now, if they don't offer the 1.0 L in the sedan it probably won't be as low...
