165/35r18 does exist & it's outside diameter is 22.5". How common is that tire?
Simpletire.com doesn't even give a 165 tire a 35 ratio option to pick from. It can't be that common?

Nope probably not a common size, especially in North America.
Those tire size calculators are kind of a joke anyways. They work in a perfect world but tire mfg's specs are commonly off by inches from one brand to another.
If tire manufacturers are off with their sizes, that doesn't necessarily make the tire calculator bad. I would only expect a rough estimate from a tire calculator. A tire wears down over its life, too.
If a person wants to explore larger wheel sizes, they may want to know what tires actually exist? Anyone can make up a tire size & plug it into a tire calculator. It will calculate the difference. It doesn't guarantee that particular size tire is available/manufactured.
I wouldn't just assume 18" or 19" wheels will work on a Mirage unless I have a particular tire in mind to go with them. I think options are very limited, but I could be wrong?
I like my 14" tires on my Mirage. I just wish it had a "hand crank" starter to go with it! :)
18's dont look bad on tiny cars.

Why stop at 18s? I'm gonna find some 22s and stickers to match.
My fuel economy is really gonna shine.
It's all for the stance.
I was behind an odd-looking new vehicle the other day. It was an SUV...but it had amazingly tall and skinny low-profile tires. It looked somewhat normal from the side...but when you looked at it from behind it looked really crazy. Turns out it was a BMW i3. This thing has 19 and 20 inch wheels that are only 5-5.5 inches wide!
You can read about them here.

Well...anything bigger than a Mirage that's tall and boxy with 4 doors (and no pickup bed) gets tossed into the SUV category (in my mind anyway). On second thought...that makes 90% of the vehicles I come across every day SUVs... :p
