Hi fellow Canucks,
I tried Costco, Canadian Tire, Kal, fountain, with no luck.
Nobody has 165/65r14 in winter tire in stock.
Would a mitsubishi dealer have some? Should I use the stealership for tires? TIA

You have way more options than we have in the States.
Quattro or Pmc tire. Both are out east, in Quebec iirc. If you don't like the few 165 options I'd look at 175/65's. There's more selection and they're often cheaper than 165's. We run 185/60-14 on work cars and haven't had problems but I prefer a narrow tire for deep snow or slush.
I went with these 175/65's. They're wearing great even though I've been basically running them year-round for at least 2 years now.
I might order up a set of these kumho's for summer. There's a promo code for 10% off(it says you need a min $400 purchase but the discount was applied online when I entered it) and you get a $60 rebate(usually pre-paid visa). A set of 4 of these(165/65) shipped and tax in works out to $66.60/tire.
I went with a 175/65. Much more choice, and it's the same size that goes on a Yaris.
Another vote for Quattro - better price than PMC. I've bought 4 sets of tires from them over the years.
Best price every time, and free shipping.

Side note - I got 4 seasons out of the Rotalla S100. Hard to go wrong at that price!
In my experience, I would go with the 165/65r14 over a wider tire. The narrower the snow tire the better. I get 175/65r14 has more choices, but I would rather go narrower than wider. If you drive on flat roads, it may not matter. As long as prices are about the same, I would stick with 165/65r14 tires for my ridge roads. 155 wide tires would be even better!
My old Festival was better in snow with 145SR12 tires than my Mirage with wider tires.
If I needed winter tires, I would start shopping for them long before now. I would be looking long before July, but that's me.
Given the way things have been, I don't expect anything to be in stock when I need it. That goes for a lot of things these past couple years.
That's mainly why I went with a 175.
As of this writing, Quattro only has one model of 165 in stock:

Whereas there is much more available in the 175 size:
