It looks like the idea of putting a 2014 nav unit into my 2018 is not going to work out, so I'd like to look into putting a "Car Play" unit from a SE into my ES.
Anyone out there tried that trick?
If so please let me know what is involved. I imagine the radio, and some wiring to go with it?
I looked at Android units, but would really like to keep the stock look.

I have the whole setup from a car in the junkyard. You'd have to run the wiring from the microphone that goes into the headliner by the front dome light down to the connector below the A pillar on the driver side. IF the car is prewired in the dash for the microphone it should be a pretty easy job to get it installed. If not, you'll have to run more wiring to the connectors in the car for the microphone's three (if I recall correctly) wires. I never installed one into a Mirage myself (I got the setup after I traded in my Mirage) but I can't imagine it being too difficult.

This ebay radio has the adapter harness that will allow you to upgrade your headunit from the base radio to the one with carplay.
However it is still missing the bluetooth mic and gps unit which is NEEDED. The mic from the base radio cannot work with the carplay headunit.
