Mainly because stupid people will get to it before I can get out and they'll drag luggage across it. That and dog cages are heavy so if putting one in the car with someone accidents can happen and scratch the very very easily damaged surface.
Ive only had one complaint from a passenger complaining about my car being a go kart and reeked of weed and got pissed at me because I wouldnt stop at multiple locations that he didnt pay for. Could care less about that trash. Other than that I get multiple compliments and havent had an issue yet with luggage and uber pool rides. I tell riders, its not worth ubering if you got a Camry v6 that gets 32 mph hwy, your fuel costs dont justify it.
I haven't used it for that yet. Still have to register it with the companies and stuff. Honestly, I bought it more for doing dog transports for the Shiba rescue I volunteer for... It just gets stuck doing taxi garbage as well.
Shibas!

It's really, really, REALLY hard sometimes too... we lost our foster dog Bert today. He had kidney failure and passed away a bit after 4 AM this morning. I sat next to him as he took his last breath... Please hug your dogs tonight a little extra for Bert. Rest in peace, good buddy. I'm so grateful that he got to experience love and be part of our family till the very end.

Sounds like you gave Bert a great life!
Dogs are wonderful companions. My buddy is a 12-year old English Setter.
Sorry about your loss!
