Studded snows for more security .
You guys are making me want one more and more!!!!!!
How long until you cave? :)
Doesn't look like there are any studded snows available . DUNLOP SP Winter Response are studless and available in the U.S. . There are good reviews of these in the U.K.. http://www.oponeo.co.uk/tyre-details...-81-t#46882951 .
It snowed last night. That means "let's see what happens if...." time.
Turned off the traction control and hit that e-brake. The tail end came out with a little coaxing but the balance of the car let it recover it's composure gracefully, unless you let the tail come out too far. It's also really stable in the snow and sure-footed.
Also came across some ice last night. It's amazing that the car with traction control turned off handled the ice better. I swear the system uses that brakes to regain traction, and only made me slide more.
A Mirage in Erie, PA, pretending to be a snow plow:

^ that was pretty awesome haha
Snow test: completed!
1. I am confident the Mirage will do well in snow, based on the weight over the drive wheels, low total weight, thin tires, and my experience with other fwd cars. With a set of winter tires I believe it would handle very well in most winter driving conditions, and is all I would need here in Winnipeg, where currently the piles of snow along my street are much taller than me.
2. That Erie, PA test didn't show much, as the car was just using momentum to get through the lines of snow, and could get traction on the open spots. I'm pretty sure I would have no trouble performing that feat on my bicycle. I'd like to see it do 12" of fresh powder on an already snow-covered lot, including stopping and starting (If I were betting, I would bet it could).
