Has anyone here combined the block heater with a stick on oil pan heater?
Seams like the combination would help warm the block / coolant plus the warming the oil would allow for faster/ easier starts + guicker warm up?
I'm not sure I've seen others here do it, but many on EcoModder have done it.
I've been meaning to look into this myself, just haven't bothered. I've been enjoying the reliable operation of the car as it is in it's basic, factory configuration. Well, except for the Daox anti-sway bar, and a few other tweaks here & there. :)
If I do get around to using the oil sump heater pad, I'll be sure to make a post about it.
I'm looking at the compatibility on the websites and 2017 is not listed. Has anyone got it to work on a 2017?
Mine works on a 2018
Thanks alot!!
TLDR: In case of failure, check plug and cord, if replacing plug, polarity might not matter.
My block heater recently failed, so I took it in to the shop.
I learned it was not the heater, but the plug end.
The shop charged me for this diagnoses and then offered to change the plug for another $49. That seemed high, so I bought a plug end and went about installing it myself. The challenge was that there are three wires - a green ground, and a hot and neutral . . . but only the ground is green - the other two have no coloured shielding.
I went to the internet who claimed I just have to look closer. I looked closer and saw nothing. I gambled and hooked it up and tried it out - worked fine and got quite hot quite quickly. Then I did more interneting and it seems the polarity doesn't matter on this sort of appliance, which is just a resistor.
