Coilover question

Last year I got my first coilovers which makes this my first Minnesota winter with them. I raised the car up an inch or so before winter and in doing so, bent the spanner when the coils had trouble twisting. I replaced the spanner, but before I drop back down for warmer months, I want to get as prepared as I can. I’ve been going through car washes regularly, but I fear the threads are going to be stuck. I’m guessing I should WD40 or PBBlaster like every day for a week before trying to use the spanner? Any better ideas?
