There are places that do battery repairs for reasonable prices. It is possible that a battery can be repaired by replacing weak or defective cells or components. While battery repair is still in its infancy, individual cells or modules can be replaced without having to dispose of the whole battery. Battery repair is as old as batteries.

I have seen an Imiev(if that's the correct spelling?) or two that seemed relatively cheap around here over the last couple years. I just don't think I'd be able to commute to work and back on a single charge in the winter time with one. Charging at work is a no go as well.
I did find another "cheap" Volt for sale. It's a 2012 with 178k km(110k miles) for $12,000cad/$8900usd. Still seems a bit much for a 10-11y/o car that I'd just use as a beater/commuter. But I looked on Carvana using the only zip code that I remember, 90210....The only 2012 Volt that came up was one with 89k miles and they were asking $15,900usd. And it's pending! Supposedly. Makes this one up here look like a steal in comparison.
I figure if I can charge it for free and the battery will last my 40something km commute everyday, then it'd pay for itself in fuel savings over the Mirage in just under 9 years! @approx $120/month I spend in gas right now(on the high end).

Apparently the battery is only part of the worries with a used i-Miev. The battery charger (which is always built into an EV...it's not an external device) is also a huge concern...
What should I look out for if I'm considering a used 2012 I-Miev?

Here's a really Stupid one. Some goof asking $18k for a Spark. MSRP is $10k. https://www.kijiji.ca/v-cars-trucks/...ths/1632921628
I guess it never hurts to ask a ridiculous amount but wow. But I really hope used car prices crash sooner than later. Though I'm sure that's been predicted for a few years now...

Only $155k for a Lightning? I'll take 2!

Only $18.5k for a Spark? I'll take 2!

That “cheap” Volt is long gone.
But I found one that Metro may like. Found it on facecrack. 91 firefly convertible for $2500 looks less rusty than usual https://www.facebook.com/marketplace...4051725458896/

The dog seems to like the car too.
