The Fiat 500 is retro styled, has the option of more powerful engines and crash test results have been very good when the car was introduced to the market. But beside this I think the Fiat 500 is a really bad car. No place inside and I donīt like the look.
Fuel consumption of the 2-cylinder engine is really high, not comparable with the 3-cylinder in our Space Star/Mirage, though Fiat claims a lower fuel consumption in the NEFZ fuel cycle.
Just have a look at the cars at spritmonitor:
Fiat 500 Twinair
Mitsubishi Space Star 1.2
Fiat drivers in the forums tell you, that the car is so much fun to drive and therefore fuel consumption is that high. But more than 50% higher than the NEFZ result?
