I think we were ready to roll with "ColtForum.com" if it had come to that! Remember how Mitsubishi refused to publicly confirm the car's name for some time after it was known they were bringing it over to North America?

Thanks to you and everyone else here who sets the tone and helps make this a friendly and useful place for other members. (And future members!)

Here's to the next 3k posts!

I've been using my ZeroStart 3100111 Engine Block Heater for about a month now, and I watch things with my OBDLink LX. One thing I've noticed is not only does it heat up the block but the intake air temperature reports roughly 10℉ - 20℉ higher than actual outdoor air temps. To me that has the effect of a warm air intake.

I finally adjusted my clutch over the weekend. It was super easy and no tools were required.

I don't know why I waited - shifts are easier now that I lifted the friction point just a little.

I followed these instructions: Service manual: clutch adjuster

I skipped the first two steps calling for measuring free play. I made a small adjustment - maybe half a turn. I suppose if I measure I could probably tighten it up a bit more.

It was a bit tricky getting my hands to fit in but I managed.

Again I say - super easy.

    Added a warm air intake.

Inspiration from fifteenwindow's Warm Air Intake. Thanks fifteenwindow!

For this I removed the snorkel and resonator cavity entirely. I'm tempted to find a way to put the snorkel back on, replace the resonant cavity with a warm air intake drawn from the exhaust manifold, and figure out a way to modulate between the two intakes. Another way is to keep the resonant cavity and hang the drawpipe off it.

I'm seeing immediate improvements in fuel economy. Not big gains, but noticeable. My main reason for trying this is to address the increased fuel consumption in colder winter temperatures. Hopefully with this I can get Speck's lifetime fuel economy average back above 50!

I first noticed this back in September and still haven't replaced my battery. I'm keeping an eye on it though.

The owner's manual says I can still unlock and get in the car using the passenger door and start it using the F.A.S.T. key holder in the center console. I look forward to trying it out.

Got some spare tires for Speck. I picked up Zero's tires as advertised here: Winter Tires, Summer Tires and Mitsu Hubcaps

I have some work to do...
    1. Put the rear seats back in
    2. Change the oil (well, mostly )
    3. Put on the snow tires

I guess I'll have to post some updated photos too.

I'm not sure about putting the snows on just yet. I expect it'll hinder my goal of getting my fuel economy above 50mpg, and the TPMS light will bug me.

I also wait until the last minute to put my snow tires / wheels on.

Until I get some type of log book, I'll make notes here.

    Odometer: 14671
    Oil changed with Mobil1 0-20.

    Tread depth measurements:
    Front - 7.5/32
    Rear - 8.5/32
Which I suppose is just about right, since the Enasave specifications say they start at 9/32nds.

Yesterday's fill-up put Speck's lifetime fuel economy average at 50.0 mpg. I had hoped I would get there before the winter temperatures beat it back down...

Speaking of fuel economy, I noticed a few things about Speck lately with colder temperatures setting in. Fuel fill-ups typically last several weeks for me - usually between three and four weeks. I was able to watch fuel consumption increase with temperature decrease, and this was most apparent when temperatures dropped below freezing. As this was on the same tank of gasoline, I'm more convinced the winter fuel economy hit is more due to temperature rather than 'winter fuel.'

Also, I notice Speck's motor rattles more until warmed up. This isn't the typical valvetrain noise I'm used to. With that, I believe it is motor parts being affected by the temperatures. It's no surprise to me, just an observation.

    Congrats on the 50

If your not running 0w-20 oil already ide switch back to it for winter. I've noticed my car sounds different too.
