Thread: Selling my 3-cylinder car

    Selling my 3-cylinder car

    Not THAT 3-cylinder car!

This one. A much more interesting, but older and rustier one.

I'm unloading this project 1991 Firefly/Metro that I bought 12 years ago and never got around to restoring. Time to clean out the garage!

    110k original kms. Mechanically it's fine. 1.0L 5-speed.

The floor is a mess, though. Needs major reconstruction. The previous owners tried to put off the inevitable with tin & pop rivets covered with fibreglass. Didn't work.

ANKLE VENTS! (Best line from ViceGrip Garage)

Someone with welding skill, time & patience could rescue it. Really what it needs is a rust-free shell from the southern States - a floor transplant donor.

I posted an honest ad with pics of the holes and everything. Asking 1600 and already got 6 replies overnight.

I even have the Swift GT body kit parts to make it look sporty!

I don't need 2 convertibles. I already welded rusty floors to save my beater Miata

Wow. We had one of those at the wrecker about 20 years ago that was hit light in the front. The bosses dad wanted it to tow behind his motorhome. It had maybe 40k kms on it. It never did get repaired(but the status magically got changed to repaired right before stricter write off inspection laws/rules came into effect) and just sat there until the top wore out and eventually just got crushed.

Oh man... that's what this car needs. A crashed donor to cut the floor pan out of.

I would not want to crash one of these. Makes the Mirage feel as safe as a bank vault by comparison!

Cool car. I think those were made in Ingersoll Ontario at the Cami plant. Suzuki GM

The hatchbacks were made at CAMI, but the convertibles came from Suzuki in Japan.

So I can be a JDM snob about it!

Right on. There is a blue convertible like that locally in the Sarnia area. Has the decals too but I think they're yellow.

I test drove a lightly modified Geo convertible once. It was fun, but I looked under the front and the rust holding in the radiator scared me.

If THAT part was rusty, it's a good thing you didn't see the rust that was barely holding on the front control arms.

OK, so clearly I have priced it too high.

Because it didn't sell within the first hour of the ad going up like the 2000 Metro hatchback I sold last year:

Thread: Just sold my 2000 Chevy Metro 1.0/5-spd. Gone in 60 minutes! Fastest sale ever.

    ---

As of this AM, the ad has been viewed 1500 times, and I've had 11 contacts so far...

    1) Two people have said they want to come see it but then didn't reply when I tried to set up a time.

    2) One person offered to trade me for a little boat/motor/trailer (nope)

    3) A couple of low-ballers

    4) One guy agonized about driving 3 hours each way to come look at it (I advised him not to -- too far to come look at a basketcase car).

    5) A bunch of "Is it still available?" messages.

    6) One guy said: "just park it on the lawn and let it finish rusting away." Everyone's a comedian.
