Yeah, I think you got it right.

When I put a 2015 condenser in a 2017 car I had to use the lines that attach to the condenser from the 2015. They bolt up different at the condenser between 15 and 17. The compressors and evaporator use the same connections though.

So in order for that 2017 line(compressor to ac condenser) to work on your car, you'd have to buy the other one (from the condenser to evaporator) from a 2017 along with a 2017 condenser.

I'm probably making it seem more complicated than it is lol

So 2015 condensers have the line mounting bolt below the fitting, 2017 and newer has the bolt next to it.
