I disconnected the power at the compressor so now the cooling fan is the only thing that goes on when the AC button is pressed.

Are you just trying to keep someone from accidentally running the AC in your car? You said the clutch was rusted and seized. Does the clutch even engage and run the compressor when the AC is turned on?
