    Yet another AC Question

I’m bringing my car in Thursday to get the ac checked out as it’s blowing zero cold air. If it’s more than a simple charge I probably won’t put the money into it. That being said can the compressor just be removed if I’m not going to use it, or does that entail a lot of work?

You could remove it if you really wanted. I don't see the point unless it's seized or you really want to try to make the car lighter cause you're into that kinda thing. You can buy a shorter belt and bypass the compressor and just leave it where it is.

Thanks I’ll probably leave it there. I hear it click on so I’m hoping it’s something else.

I have seen a few of these cars have just barely enough pressure to kick on the compressor but not enough to provide any cooling. They just needed a tiny top off. Hopefully that's the case for you.

I hope so, she doesn’t look 100%, but she’s been good to me so far.

I just got back from my mechanic, compressor and clutch need to be replaced. It was weird the clutch was rusted and seized. I’m not sure that I want to put the $$ into it. Of course it’s going to be almost 100 in Massachusetts this weekend.

Buy a compressor in a way that is being suggested above. And then take it to a mom n pop shop for a vacuum and charge (possibly the shop you already used). Or find a friend who knows how to vacuum and charge properly. Save a good bit of money.

Your car will be much more valuable with a functioning A/C. And you will be less likely to get frustrated with your car.
