I'm going to say that lug doesn't look crimped properly. But I'm sure it is a damn sight better than the burnded up one that was on there before. I used to have to sort of know a lot about crimping onto lugs. Even lugs a way mo' bigguh than that one. And that lug also needs some Noalox.
Weeeee doggies, it looks like that cable got as hot as fire (before). Shouldn't effect it that much. After running it for a while, put your lips against it and see if it still seems to be running real hot.

OEM battery is 356 CCA like Eggman's chart shows. Almost any aftermarket battery is going to be better than that. I don't get too hung up on brands, because only a few battery factories make them (slapping on different stickers on them).
Chevy Spark alternators are in the $118-275 price range @ rockauto.com. Sadly, they don't seem to have ones for a Mirage.
Given you own two Mirages, I would have kept your factory alternator. If you find someone to rebuild it some day, you would have a cheap spare on hand. Most of the Spark alternators are rebuilt ones (4 out of the 5), because it's an item that's easy to rebuild. The new one is cheaper than some of the rebuilt ones, & it may not be better.
I know you have some piece of mind with a new one, but a rebuilt one could be just as good or better. Glad you got it fixed. I understand the time crunch thing. Sometimes paying extra to get done fast & right is worth it.

Update
Holding up so far. No idiot light. Let's see in a week. Any opinion on the likelihood of this maintaining? I'm concerned about a deeper electrical issue, especially after seeing those wires cooked like they were.
Spend another $20 and get a voltmeter that plugs into your accessory port. With this device you won't have to wonder how your battery and charging system are doing.
This will make it a lot easier for us to give you good advice in the future...even if you don't follow it.

Update, took my wife's G4 today for work, I'm doing mobile testing/blood sampling right now, so I'm out driving all day.
Once again, at idle, the AC isn't blowing very cold. It's blowing better than what it did but not by much. Adding freon doesn't seem to have cut it! It blows cold just fine while car is in motion but at idle I can feel a rise in temperature.
My 2021 Mirage blows like a meat cooler at idle so I'm thinking I might go to a Japanese specialist.
