If I remember right it's the red wire with white tracer that's usually the effered one? But with any luck everything will look fine. Then it's time to fire up the parts cannon and start with the wiper blades,

This one time, someone on facebook said they had a neighbor that told them their cousins car had too much dust on the wiper blades and it caused static electrocity that interferenced with the etacs module which in turn caused the ecu to think the alternator was overcharging so the battery was slowly dying and causing the light to come on. Or something.

If all else fails put a piece of tape over the light like every taxi I've ever been in.

I looked up flying out there but it's about $2000 for a fancy class round trip or 70hr's of driving and maybe 14 tanks of fuel in the turd-mobile.

We're getting 14.5 volt then jumping around to 13 volts now back to 14.5 volts. We cleaned off the copper wiring reattached to the alternator positive lead.

Any idea what happens if you run the alternator without that wire plugged in? i think we had that alternator delete forum thingy that said that the alternator would self excite the field to like 15 volts. If it does then it could be safe to drive with it disconnected for awhile?

Final voltage reading was 12.5 volts. Slightly out of range but no more light and she's running like a dream. I took her out and put everything electrical on full blast.
