Question Another one bites the dust, Repair questions

    Hello friends,

One of my 2 mirages was involved in an accident. I havent had the chance to look at it yet. I will be looking at it tomorrow. It appears that it isnt leaking any fluids. Im looking for advice on how to know what to look for when deciding if i should attempt a home repair. Any and all advice, photos, tutorials replacing relevant parts would be nice. Which parts normally need to be replaced/repaired in a collision like this, what to look for? Accident repair is very new to me. Name: IMG_2740.jpg

Thank you for any and all advice.

Also if someone could tell me if the front bumper for a mirage fits in a mirage with only the rear seat folded that would be nice.

Just glad you're okay buddy. You have two Mirages? Keep us all posted with your repairs. Is it just a fender bender? Good luck pal.

I wasn't in it. The front bumper looks 100% okay,
i think all i need is the passenger side fender, the hood, front plastic bumper and the top, sides and bottom of part number 3 in this diagram.

The hood pivots and latches ok but its like a half inch gap on the un-damaged side. hopefully its just the hood ****ed up and bent and not the frame of the whole car thats out of wack. can someone please tell me the part numbers of what is referred in the factory service manual as the "front bumper reinforcement". Photo below. and maybe the fender clip things.

For anyone wondering, Driver suffered concussion from head hitting steering wheel. No airbag/ any lights on in the car.

I believe the seat belts don't lock when the brakes are applied in this car.

It's good there were no injuries of a crippling or permanent nature. I'd say your Mirage is completely repairable BECAUSE the air bags did not go off and your seat belt retractors are not locked.

I'd say you have it figured out already.

Seat/shoulder belts in our 2021 Mitz are inertia reels as they all SHOULD be. Driver hitting steer wheel means there was a whole lotta slack in the belt. Blessed that injuries were minor (unless I missed something...).

yes, they were minor, The driver is short (like 5'2 i think) and sits incredibly close to the wheel as the neither the steering wheel telescopes nor the pedals move forward.

Minor update: I figured out what the rattling sound you can hear when the car is turned on was. Apparently the igniton coils have the bolts completely undone, only the airbox is currently holding them in. Weird...

I'm glad you're not hurt Mohammad! You've been a good addition around here since you've joined. Maybe a new youtube repair video is in our future?

    Thanks for the kind words,
I wasn't in the car at the time of accident. I could do a youtube video. The problems ive got 57 subscribers and when you search "Mirage collision repair" on youtube videos only get like less than 1,000 views so im doubtful its worth my time.

You're such a nice guy Dirk you've motivated me to work on my latest video the coolant change so i can finally answer your question about if its worth your time to open the engine block drain.
