    Manual Transmission Replacement

    Hello!

I have a 2014 Mirage with 130k miles. The car is popping out of all gears but 1st atm. Started with 4th, and progressively got worse.

Long story short I am buying a salvaged tranny from LKQ, and wanted to know if the transmission changed on any of the years or can I buy one from 2014-2019?

    Thanks in advance

Your direction is good. However, there are still some shops / mechanics around that can tear apart a manual transmission and rebuild it. Which is another option. The labor is the most expensive part. The rebuild parts are fairly cheap (if available, I forget about that issue with this car).

And in the case of a rebuild, you'd wind up with a KNOWN good transmission. One pulled out of LKQ will likely be good, however, that is unknown.

On the other hand, if the one pulled out of LKQ is cheap & readily available, that supersedes other negative issues in my opinion.

    Good luck!

Make sure the trans is the problem. I had a 1990 Corolla back in the day that would pop out of 3rd and 5th gears. I assumed it was a trans problem so I replaced it.

The problem persisted. Turns out the shifter was worn and the trans wasn't going all the way INTO 3rd and 5th gears. I replaced the trans for nothing. You are getting to the mileage where your shifter might be wearing out. They are mostly plastic on these cars.
