I thought all base model Mirages in Canada didn't have A/C until a couple years ago, but maybe base models are rare there

I think the base model (ES) is the biggest seller in the States, but the base model Mirage has always had things like A/C, power windows, & power locks with remote entry. Cruise control didn't become standard for the base model until 2019, however. In my mind, a true base model never really existed here.

Since you've already reduced your electrical load, it would seem that removing the alternator would have little effect. Yet that doesn't mean that it's not worth a try. It could be a greater gain than expected. So, I support your experimentation.

why not replace the alternator pulley with a magnetic clutch then wire it on the speedo it will disengage on a certain speed, or if its cvt wire it in the inhibitor make it engage during P/N and disengage on D/R, dont know if there's a gain in there considering the size of the pulley would be larger.

    I LOVE my alternators!

Having to charge a battery is a pain in the butt!

I think alternators are getting a bum rap here. I am pro-alternator!

If alternators aren't safe, you aren't safe!
