Is this a Fake Sparkplug?

Hi All,

Does anybody know if there are any fake SPs for mirage? if so how to spot a fake SP.

I ask this because i bought an OEM NGK LZFR5BI-11 SPs and one of them looks like the tip is not in the middle?

I doubt it is fake. What you're seeing there is manufacturing tolerance. It's actually poor manufacturing quality control. But it will likely work just fine.

I had doubts with the SPs I bought online so now I used it for a day and removed it just before I post this and compare the new SP I bought with my old ones.

These are the new SPs, used only for a day. On the threads of the SPs is a copper anti sieze thats why it looks that way.


Left is my 7 years old SP which i cleaned and on the right is a day old SP.


one thing I noticed when I installed the new SP:
*When I screwed it down it doesn't lock into place. It feels like its still gonna rotate and if you tighten it you could feel that the thread my break. Unlike the OEM, once into place, it locks out and cannot be rotated.
*Notice the tip of the new SP, its not like a needle that is pointed unlike the original on the left of the 2nd picture.

Keep in mind that the metal gasket on the new plugs takes a little force to flatten. The gasket on the old plugs would have already been flattened and would make it feel like it came to a sudden stop when tightening.

ok, but what about the tips! why is it so different?

Looking at the old plugs, the pills (the rare metal parts that make the "needles") are fine, they should be able to last another seven years or so again, and still work fine!

but what can you say about the tips of both SP? why are they different?
so how can someone be sure that what they got is not a fake.
