Cat theft prevention idea's (for non-Mirage vehicles)

I found a spool of cable that looks to be used for large overhead shop doors. So I wrapped a bunch of it around the new front cat that I just installed in the NV. I'm hoping cable is gonna be a pita to cut with a sawzall. I can't cut it with my bolt cutters, tin snips, or battery cable cutters.
I wrapped it around the subframe/suspension cross member and tack welded it in a few spots hoping that'll be a bit of a deterrent. Hopefully, they don't go nuts with the sawzall and start cutting the steering rack and subframe in half lol.

They do sell a cat shield for the NV200: https://www.getcatsecurity.com/c-nv200-19 otherwise maybe consider putting them on bags like this guy Name: hqdefault.jpg

or maybe you can just gut some mirages and use them as a replacement for the nv200?

I know the local truck rental place has a "random" security patrol come by at nights to try and deter cat theft...

Its common to wear a helmet not for safety but to hide your identity.

(insert straight piped nv200 meme here)

I've always been partial to the claymore mine. C4 and ball bearings all in a nice plastic container with instructions on it that say "this side toward enemy". I too have no sympathy for thieves.

I saw a window bar once that was regular steel tube, but it a smaller hardened steel bar inside that was either greased or on bearings and rolled freely. It was impossible to cut through the tube because as soon as you hit the hardened steel it just rolled back and forth with saw blade.

Does our beloved Mirages have less of the precious metals in the CAT? Yet another advantage of owning a ****box! Thieves are just like "Nah, I got too much pride to take a Mirage CAT."

The mirage front cat(more valuable one) is next to impossible to remove with a saw on the 14/15’s and is part of the exhaust manifold on the 17 and newer. Thief’s don’t try. One did steal a rear cat from
A wrecked mirage that I left up on some rims that was easy pickings though.

What metals are in there that fetch such a nice price?

I don't know for sure, would have to ask a cat processor? A bunch of precious metals platinum is the only one I remember.

A catalytic converter...is designed to convert the environmentally hazardous exhaust emitted by the engine and convert them into less harmful gasses. To do this, they use platinum, palladium, or rhodium. In recent years, however, the values of these precious metals have skyrocketed.

    December 2020...

    rhodium.....$14,500 per ounce
    palladium....$2,336 per ounce
    platinum......$1,061 per ounce

    March 2022...

    rhodium.....$20,000 per ounce
    palladium....$2,938 per ounce
    platinum......$1,128 per ounce

Typically, recyclers will pay $50 to $250 per catalytic converter.
