The split window design of the 1st gen was better IMO. It gave you better rear visibility and the split glass panes served a good purpose of deflecting bright lights from behind you. It was just goofy looking but more practical than the 2nd gen.
Can you link to the complaints of the EC rear window redesign? Everything I've read praises it for getting rid of the "Pontiac Aztec" look.

From sitting in one myself at the dealer and articles like this

I'd never drive one without blind spot monitoring. That sloping roofline looks cool but I don't think it's practical in any way.

I wasn't impressed with the new Outlander rear visibility either.

Take it from a OS/RVR/ASX owner. The 2.0 engine is a great engine. Mine has been flawless so far 3yrs+. The 1.5 Turbo in the EC, not so much. Lots of pain in the EC forums.

You were wise to buy the Outlander Sport FWD with the 5-speed manual (last year offered).

I am not impressed with 1.5L turbo engines put in other brands like Honda either.

Yah, I was actually planning to buy another Mirage at the time (5 speed manual) but the dealer had this on the lot and I knew it was the last year for the manual so I pulled the trigger. Got a smoking hot good deal on it also.

There's no house of pain, like the BMW 7-Series house of pain. The suicide hotline number has to be published all over that forum.

I'm shocked. Besides a terrible name, I thought owners were pleased in its reliability. I've obviously haven't researched this enough.

I've read thru a bunch of posts on there, varying incidents of CPU needing software updates for various issues (Outlander Sport 2.0, anyone?) some electrical issues with touch screen, complaints about the automatic climate controls (like Ive seen on here) but I'm not seeing wholesale turbo/engine failures or fires (sorry Kia/Hyundai). Gotta remember it's a 4 year old design, not 10 like the Mirage. Even our beloved cars had their teething pains.
