Buying a base level Mirage new would cost me about 89% more than the one I already have. By the time you add in the extra taxes & such for the higher price, it's probably closer to 100% OTD price increase from 5 years ago.

I know that I come across as a pessimist sometimes, but I like living as a realist. Car prices are a bit nuts.

I also can't afford **** in this market, especially with the new luxury tax in canada. For vehicles over 100k, i will pay the Greater of 23% or price*0.13+(price-100,000)*.20

    Thats a minimum 23% tax on a 100k car.

Agreed. I was just sharing the positive corporate news, not to be excited that they're making more money, but more company stability usually means some bolder new products, and those replacement parts keep coming.

An alternator is over $1100, an alloy rim is over $700, hub caps are like $130 EACH. An entire used engine on car-part.com is less than one new allow rim.

I think id be ok if they stopped selling replacement parts.

If it makes you feel any better, I don't think too many people are gullible enough to pay that much for those parts.

I got quoted over $6000 for 2 new oem catalytic converters for a 7 year old Nissan. Got them from rock auto for $600. Don't ask me why I ended up sourcing them out rather than one of the dozens of parts"people" up front. We sell aftermarket car parts and can't even source parts for our own fleet ffs....(end of disgruntled employee rant).

New OEM parts typically cost more than auto wreckers(or even rock auto) sell stuff for. It's science and math and stuff.

Perhaps Mitsubishi Mega Corp. could buy controlling shares back from Nissan.

Mitsubishi presence here in southeast Asia is really strong here in PH other brands is just fighting for no.3 slots because 1st and 2nd is dominated by toyota and mitsubishi and the difference between no2 and no3 is so far.. but still they choose to release some of their new cars on US and europe, they already have the 1.5 liter 4B40 turbo, yet we still get the old 1.5 4A90 NA..because here whatever they sell people still buy it, and parts is also very cheap, the drag diesel turbo is also on the rise in thailand turbo diesel tuner is shop is already making a scene and mitsubishi's diesel engine is one of the best, i think mitsubishi should set their priorities right, if europe and US doesn't want their cars, then focus on their biggest consumer.

North America would want their cars, if they actually sold their good models here like the Triton or Pajero.
