If it did we would already be dead. That was the whole motivation of the AI SKYnet, humans were dangerous and not necessary. Would a self actualized artificial intelligence consider humanity necessary any longer? Once a question of science fiction, now I'm not so sure.

I've heard of them crashing into emergency vehicles as well. They call it a Tesla flaw, which it obviously is but isn't the driver 100% responsible? I haven't watched any of the motorcycle crash stories(yet) but from what I understand(I might be wrong), these crashes are usually caused by drivers who aren't paying attention.

Or am I wrong and the driver is fully aware of what's going on and tries to avoid a collision, but the car says nope, locks the steering straight ahead, mowing down motorcycles?

I've seen a bunch of videos of people napping while driving down the road with their cars on autopilot. I get that it probably works great the majority of the time but to be 100% reliant on something like that is taking a huge chance.

Probably a mix of both. The problem is in them calling it "autopilot" when it is not, and fact that they removed the radar from the front of the car (due to phantom braking when it returns a false positive) in favor of relying on the AI and cameras only. Which doesn't seem to be working well....

There’s been some pretty horrible crashes with drivers using Full Self Driving because it doesn’t reliably detect road and traffic hazards. Almost all are due to inattentive drivers. Tesla emphasizes keeping your hands on the wheel when using Autopilot. I can’t speak on Full Self Driving because I don’t have it.

Wikipedia: Tesla Autopilot look for Notable Crashes - not good.

Dan O’Dowd has been an outspoken critic of Elon Musks implementation of Full Self Driving in Teslas.
