Thread: Headlights! (Need headlight bulb retainer)

    I could 3D print those, and they would look substantially better than those samples. I believe those were printed on an FDM printer. I have access to a state of the art polyjet 3D printer. However, the parts I print, with the materials I currently have, the parts would be more brittle than the FDM parts. In the end, I think the FDM parts (if that's what they are) are mechanically superior to what I would print.

    I suspect for time factor the 3d guy chose large layers which equate to lots of striations. If given another shot he could likely shoot for .12 mm and have a smooth finished product. Since it's under the hood, under a boot who cares how it looks?

    Finally got the 3D printed parts in the mail. Although the measurements weren't exact, they fit like a glove!

    I'd certainly add it to my collection with the caveat I would print these out for members for cost of material only, probably a couple dollars.
