    Replacing the oil pan

Im a bit stuck on replacing the oil pan. Some other parts seem to be in the way, including the starter and part of the engine. What's the best way to get the pan out from here?Name: IMG_20221106_165325.jpg

If I remember right these oil pans don’t have a gasket. They’re stuck in place by the sealant. Need to use a putty knife or scraper to break the seal.

You were right, it was VERY stuck on with the sealant, so much so that we had to bend the pan out if shape to break the seal ant remove it with a crowbar. The putty knife was in no way srong enough, even with a hammer. Thankfully, the point of the project was to replace the pan, so further damage to the old one wasnt an issue

We used a mix of sealant and a self-cut rubber fiber gasket to seal up the new one

I have opened lots of oil pans on all sorts of cars. They practically always were sealed (stuck on) with normal high-temperature silicone. They can be a PITA to get off, but I have never bent an oil pan in the process. There are inexpensive special wedges for exactly that purpose, and every better parts store will stock them.
An example for a tool that looks like the picture in the FSM:
