The microphone clip was a cheap 2 sided tape mount that works well since I never used my AUX port anyway. I found some info about the hidden service menu and changing the power and modulation settings. On my meter this radio on AM mode is 4 watts on low and 7.5 watts on high power. On FM mode it's 17 watts. Tomorrow morning I do another distance test, but without the use of sideband.

    Tiny!

The FM mode surprises me. The FCC is so anal about everything meeting specs for spurious output I'm surprised they allow a radio in with FM mode. Is the FM using the same 40 frequencies as the AM?

The FCC has allowed the use of FM on CB band last year. FM shares the same frequencies as AM mode, so there's that. FM is too noisy in my opinion, but the voice clarity is great.

FM in theory should be noise free, if you can break the squelch of the receiver your voice should be clear. If you can't, well, you don't get heard. Think I'll look into all band mini radios and see what the market has. It might be nice to have an all band low power with a tuneable VFO. (think choosing any frequency instead of pre-programmed channels.)

This Anytone I got covers 10 thru 12 meters. 24-30 mhz The Anytone 5555 and 6666 do also, but more power and features. Did my range test and it equals the old radio at 13 to 14 miles on AM mode.

    I found this https://www.amazon.com/AnyTone-Smart...0-4513d670b6bc

and for the price it astounds me! Wow. I'm tempted but I have an all band slightly larger, (Icom 7100) but I worry about smash and grab with the Icom. it's worth $7-800 up here. Maybe the anytone is the solution.

I have one of these by a different manufacturer and it's been opened up for CB band also. I did a review on it, but for the extra 20 bucks, you can get the AT-500M which has all bands and shows the frequency in the display. My Anysecu Smart CB is a decent radio, but the receive is not the greatest with a constant 3 bar or more of noise and radio reports from my friends say it sounds muffled on transmit.
