how many airbags in the hatchback?

    I count 9, or it is 11?

one on each front windshield pillar (2)
steering wheel and passenger dash & driver knee (3)
each front seat side impact bags (2)
[del]each rear seat side side impact curtain (2)[/del]

    so there's 9.make that 7

are the front seat side airbags also the side impacts? I would think so but aren't they low?

nevermind, the front wdshd pillar bags are the front head area side impact and the front seat airbags must be the side impact bags for the rear seat passengers?

If I go to swap seats from an older Mirage (6 way, heated) I want to make sure the airbag scenario is the same.

No, of course not. In the UK it's a passenger knee airbag. Duh!

I doubt airbags are different. I've swapped a 15' seat for a 17'. Seat airbags are easy to change too.
    For the drivers seat,
    -remove the seat,
-dig out the zipper from the bottom outboard corner of the seat back,
-awkwardly unzip it up(zipper handle is on inside of seat cover),
-Unclip yellow wire loom from seat bottom and 2-3 other clips under seat cover holding harness to metal frame
-Undo 1 10mm nut holding bag to seat frame.(the one in the center with yellow paint) the 2 outter nuts hold the inflater to the airbag assembly?
*Don't turn the key on while airbag is unplugged or you'll throw a code and need to have it erased.
*When you unplug an airbag there is a little jumper wire inside the connector that crosses both wires together making it practically impossible for it to go off while unplugged.

It's my understanding that even static electricity can activate the airbag squib.

    Nice writeup.

Seconded. I'll be more confident now when I swap the seats.
