    Emergency handling

I've had the Mirage for just over a week now and put on just over 1300 km on it. Last night, heading to work I had to brake really hard for a moose, and I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised. A big bull moose was on the highway, and I had to brake so hard, that all my stuff fell off the seats. The car tracked straight, and slowed from about 95 km/h to about 10 km/h, and it felt really stable.

Generally, driving at the speed limit or a bit over, this car doesn't handle nearly as badly as I expected after reading the reviews and even reading this forum. So far, I'm pretty impressed with this little dinky car.

The suspension was greatly improved from the 2014/15 to the 2017 and it's seen minor but cumulative improvements since. When I think impartially about my 2017 handling it really isn't horrible. Actually, compared to my Saturn Vue the Mirage is pretty good.

I'm also impressed with the anti-lock system of the Mirage. I've had a couple of F1 first corner zaniness and it's always tracked straight and hauled the little car to a stop in no time.

I have no issue with the handling or braking of the car until the roads get greasy. I am hoping a set of winter tires will solve that next winter.

I doubt the new struts I purchased had much more R&D changes versus stock 2014s but replacing them after 110k miles made the car feel so much better. Brake dive was practically eliminated.

I have wider-than-stock tires so when I push on the brake pedal, it stops. I also have 15's (currently not on) with 195s and that helps stopping even more lol.
