This exactly! In sub zero Fahrenheit temps the CVT does some really weird things for a few miles.

Unable to read low contrast climate control LCD screen under almost any conditions. Why can't the temp control work WITHOUT using the AC compressor? Especially when it is freezing cold outside?
FCM is expensive joke.
Rear shocks suck. My '82 Dodge Aries K was not this bad...bouncy-bouncy....

Just push the AC button to turn the compressor off. The compressor won't come back on unless you activate the defrost button or hit the AC button again. Even when I hit defrost I immediately push the AC button to disengage the compressor.
There are instructions for modifying HVAC operation in the owner's manual that may be a part of making the AC not automatically engage?

If I don't have the ac on my windows fog up a lot in the winter when the temps are milder, cracking a window isn't ideal when it's below zero on the F scale. It's even worse when I have passengers.
I remember someone had a stripper edition non-ac Mirage and complained about the same issue all the time.

For the past 3 years I can't get rid of ice/frost inside my windshield when I first get in my car. In the fall on really hot days I left my windows cracked to let any moisture escape. It didn't seem to work. I have not checked my AC drain tube yet but I don't think that is my issue. My Saturn is fine, no interior frost. I don't get it.

I really only have one thing with mine and that's the FAST key beeper that goes off if I leave the key in my pocket and exit the car while it's running (like you would want to do warming it up in the morning). I'm going to disconnect that beeper next time I'm working on the car and see what new warning light I can add to the Christmas tree on my dash.
Definitely not normal. The car has a lot of moisture inside. This time of year it could be that you've been tracking a lot of snow in and the carpet and foam liner is getting saturated. If you go by pattern failures, it could be moisture from a heater core leak. You would normally smell that, but I don't see them until it's so bad that the customer is ready to be without their car.

Things I hate about my Mirage; expensive hard to find parts, the pedals being too close and the wheel too far for those of us that have the seat all the way back, and how I'm constantly adjusting the volume between idling at a light and having to pump up the jam when the engine is roaring doing 35mph. Oh and no telescopic wheel, only tilt, which sucks.
