    WTB 5sp transmission WA state

(Edit, I found one. I have core parts available if anyone needs something internal and a shifter shaft assembly. Will start a new for sale post) )Looking for a good 5 speed manual transmission preferably near SE Washington or shipped. Might be small and light enough to go standard shipping in a reinforced box.

Can I ask why? Around here we like knowing if things failed, were flogged to death or people just want something different.

I bought a mechanics special 2015 mirage with 115,000 miles for $2000. It was operated with a nearly failed clutch for a long time The synchros are completely toasted in first gear. It grinds badly when putting into gear and pops out of gear even if held forward with the shifter. And its a little whiny going down the road and seems sloppy when transitioning from acceleration to deceleration. I imagine those metal filings have been making there rounds for awhile and I'd be better off to swap it than try to repair it. Was owned by a kid since 77k and who knows before that.

Sounds like you got a great deal for a project car. Are you going to try and drop the final ratio to 3.55 by sourcing the EU differential?

It's the first I've heard of it. but after some research that would be nice to drop 75mph rpm by 300-400rmps. did not see F5MDB-1-ABZ final drives on ebay. there's probably other sources too.
Just ordered a "dodge attitude" (said mirage also in the listing) clutch kit off ebay for $120 after WA tax to the door. looking at the forums on clutch failures it seems that the dampener springs are often grenaded in the clutch. that could explain the on to off throttle slop this thing has. Maybe I should yard it apart and see if the syncro can be replaced or cleaned up with a grinding wheel.

That EU diff sounds sweet, if I ever have to inside the gearbox I'm swapping diffs. I'd look at cleaning up synchros, can't hurt, might save a fair chunk of cash. Let use know how the clutch kit performs. I'm dithering ordering a clutch kit for my Saturn.

What kind of Saturn? I just sold my Saturn Astra (not a true Saturn) at an auction and used the coin to buy this roughed up Mirage.

It's a Vue. I seem to have the last 5 MT 2.2 Ecotec Vue in running order in Canada.

Removed and pulled the trans apart tonight. 1-2 syncro hub is visible damaged and a fuzzy magnet as well. But I'm surprised how clean everything actually is at 115k and college kid driven. Name: PXL_20230223_034534435.jpg

I found a local transmission for $500 from a wrecker and it's the least expensive of anything local. Fortunately its from a 2018 with 49k miles
