The rain-sensing wipers on my Lexus are a joke too. But they're circa 2005 technology. I argued with Hyundai-Kia that rain sensing technology needs to be primarily for a) rolling windows up / closing sunroofs, with a car sitting out in the rain, and/or b) for a rear wiper. But, Toyota hadn't implemented rain-sensing wipers in that way, so therefore they weren't going to do it that way either.
