Parts shortages are everywhere. Must not be an extra supply of new/reman units to sell them right now.

Call local Auto Wreckers for availability or do you have a rebuilder close you could use??? A lot of auto wreckers can get items sent from other yards. I think they have a network they can search???
I didn't know what to do, so I didn't do anything

I don't think I would ever buy an alternator or starter. I have two shops that would rebuild them for much cheaper, & then I know exactly what I have. Tractor, ATV, car - they do them all.

Why are you searching for an alternator in the first place? I'm just asking to try and save you from needlessly throwing parts at your car rather than tell you how to do it.

The most common reason the battery warning light turns on in these cars is a broken wire in the harness. The only alternator I've replaced in the last 8 years was the other day in a 2015 and it had 310,000miles. There's a few more with similar mileage and never had issues.

Most of the time it's brushes. They are carbon, they are in physical contact with the commutator. They wear down. It's remarkable the compounds developed can last 300,000 miles or more now. If not brushes then bearings. They can also be replaced, not as easily but still. paying hundreds for a rebuilt alt. is silly. but I get it, not everyone has a press, etc.
