I would think y'all would need AC more than anyone because of the cold. Here in TX, when it gets cold, the AC is needed to keep the air "condition" as to not fog the windows.

@OP - welcome! The mirage is far from perfect, but with a little patience, some parts, and a lot of understanding, the mirage is great!

I do over here. If I don't run the ac my windows fog up pretty bad. I've tried cracking windows but it's pointless. I park in a heated garage in the winter, it doesn't make a difference. Hauling kids around makes it fog up even more. It's like poor mans window tint except you can't really see out.
I've had tons of cars without ac(hyundai excel, k-car, 86 escort, and lots of other turds) and I don't remember them fogging up as bad as the Mirage does. Or maybe they did and I didn't care?

    The A/C dehumidifies the air...

My 1990 Ford Festiva (1.3L, 63 hp) didn't throw a lot of heat in the winter. You had to keep a small ice scraper handy, because the side windows would ice up on the inside. You literally had to scrape them to see out when it was really cold out. When it was really cold you didn't freeze inside, but you probably didn't take your coat off either. Passengers made the build up of ice worse, unless they held their breath or you asked them to stick their heads outside. Actually sticking your head outside in the back was not an option. The rear windows only cracked open on the rear edge. I had to open the rear hatch door to open or close them. I drove with them open 90% of the time during the summer months.

Having said that, I don't remember the Festiva fogging up as bad during cold damp rains like the Mirage. I use the Mirage A/C for clearing the front windshield faster. I don't use the A/C that often otherwise. I prefer having the windows down, but there are times when it's nice to have A/C, too.
