2017 Mirage brake shoe problems... (some aftermarket shoes won't work)

I had a 2017 Mirage come in for a check engine light. The brake warning light was on as well. The master cylinder was almost empty... Rh wheel cylinder was shot.
I could not get the rh drum off. I couldn't get the adjuster wheel to budge. Tried bolting the wheel back on and spinning it while pulling, tried using a slide hammer. After enough prying and crying I got it off. I bent the backing plate a bit, probably could have bent it back and called it good but I replaced it cause I had a spare.

Both e-brake cables were seized and both front shoes were badly worn. So, I replaced the rh backing plate, wheel cylinder(2017+ only) and e-brake cable. Went to install the new shoes(Raybestos #778PG) and the shoes are mfg wrong. They're the right shape and match up to the old shoes but they're missing the spot where the rear upper spring connects to the rear shoe. (I'll add pics later). I looked up shoes on the rockauto and found that finding the correct rear shoes is gonna be a pita.

The Bosch BS924, DYNAMIC FRICTION 1901092400 and CENTRIC 11109240 appear to be correct, at least the pics look right.. The rest of the listing for 2017 Mirage shoes are either missing the one hole or are 2015 shoes.

Weird, I found a different line that we can get that appears to be the right one. Will have later today. Part number for it is 924RSS.
I looked up the fitment for the 2017 Mirage shoes on rockauto and it shows:
    MITSUBISHI I-MIEV 2014-2017
    MITSUBISHI LANCER 2008-2017
    MITSUBISHI MIRAGE 2017-2022
    MITSUBISHI MIRAGE G4 2017-2022
    NISSAN VERSA 2009-2011
Please refer to catalog for application details.
So I look up 2010 Versa shoes and come up with more options. And a Raybestos 924PG that looks like the right one. So the 778 brake shoe will not fit the Mirage. All the 924# appear to be the right one expect for the wagner Z924 so don't buy that one.

I'll post back with how the 924RSS works out.

I got some new drums for this car as well that came with wheel bearings installed but no abs rings.

When you say e-brake, do the newer mirages no longer have a hand-brake-lever for the rear brakes?

No, they still use the same old cable operated e-brake(emergency brake/parking brake). This particular car looks like it's spent more time on gravel than asphalt. The retainer clips that hold the cables to the trailing axle are worn away.

Oh - you meant e-for emergency.

E-brake in my head was electronic. My bad.

No, thankfully none of that stuff in these cars. Not yet... A buddy replaced his back brakes in their escape that has an electric park break. I think there must be a motor in the caliper or something? Buddy used a big c-clamp to push the piston back into the caliper and broke the motor off....Don't replace brakes when hammered.

So these cheaper rss pads fit properly and even came with some new little horse shoe clips to hold the e-brake lever onto the rear shoe.

I've @itching about replacing the rear drums & shoes for years on here. Almost 9 years in North America and still hardly no aftermarket selection.

It's not that bad. There's enough aftermarket shoes and drums out there. The shoes fit Versa, i-miev, and mirage, supposedly. The shoes I tried first were identical except for the missing hole where a spring goes.
As for drums, the older 14-15 drums are still relatively pricey. The cheapest ones I came across for my 2014 were bare drums so I bought new wheel bearings(because mine had 300k km) and re-use the old c-clip,wheel studs and abs ring.

Raybestos sells drums that come with the bearing and studs installed and it looks like the abs ring is too. I think they're cheaper than buying a 14-15 drum.

The drum I installed on this 2017(2017+) came with studs and wheel bearing installed but no abs ring. I recall someone posting about an abs light after having drums by a shop and they didn't swap that ring over...
The big problem is these cars don't sell like F150's and Rav4's so mfg are probably more interested in making more parts for popular vehicles. And retailers don't stock parts that they don't sell often so it's common to have to make two trips to get most parts for these cars.
