I'd go rust first. Make sure they soak the engine compartment. I had a treatment done where the underside and engine were ignored. The franchise said, "it's at our discretion if we do them." They knew their quality was so bad they never put the krown sticker on the window. Compared to the Barrie franchise where my car dripped for 2 years. I wasn't complaining.

^ Yep - I just changed my clutch cable, and a couple of the nuts & bolts were bad enough I wasn't sure if they'd strip, break or undo.

Just wanted to update my fellow friends here that I went ahead with Krown Rust Proofing and just got it done. Yay! Now time for this sucker (car) to stay strong for a long time.

Good to hear! Thanks for keeping us updated.

Hopefully you have a place to park where the inevitable drips in the next few days won't be a problem.

I've been buggint my aunt, brother & parents to get their cars done this year. Hopefully we can negotiate a little group discount.

Rust proofing isn't really a thing out here. Some dealers "under coated" a few cars when new with some black rubberized crap that does nothing imo.

Dumb question, does that rust proof oil stuff not collect and trap salt, sand and other road debris? I've always wondered about that? Or is it a rust inhibitor kinda thing?

Both. It's an oil-based inhibitor. It coats surfaces & seeps into crevices.

It'll attract & hold dust & dirt, but since the mix is infused with oil, it's not a rust trap (like rubberized undercoating can be).

It doesn't trap salt because it's dissolved in water and oil repels it.

If you never clean your car (like me), it'll creep around corners & make itself visible on the outside of the car. I'll take a pic of my lower doors & rockers to illustrate!

    Back in a sec...

I have a friend who has literally never washed her 13 year-old car, and her "Krown line" is about 5 inches up from the bottom of the doors, front to back!
