For anyone paying attention, you have to remove a lock ring in order to press the old wheel bearing out of the knuckle. Some manufacturers (like Mitsubishi) use lock rings that have notches in the ends instead of holes. The one on the left below is a Mirage wheel bearing snap/lock ring. The ring on the right is a traditional snap ring...
Snap ring pliers don't work well on those notched snap rings.
Let us know when it's all back together.
Yeah, I found that certain needle nose pliers work well in a situation where the snap ring isn't corroded to beat all gettup!
Edited to add; I used a pair of needle nose pliers with 20 inch handles for leverage and had my helper compress the ring while I guided it in, a 3 handed job at least.
