UK review: modest and efficient Mirage is making the most out of simplicity

Here's another U.K. review that isn't as ridiculous as the infamous Top Gear one... it's a no-fuss look at what they call a "fuss-free" car.

    Likes:

    - simple & efficient cabin controls
    - decent room inside for its footprint
    - "charismatic thrum" from the 3-cyl engine
    - fuel economy
    - light controls, "super-slick gearshift" easy to drive

    Dislikes:

    - multi-info display is too small
    - just "adequate" acceleration (performance)
    - "lifeless" steering
    - not as fun to drive as some competitors

    Overall:

What the Mirage does best is make the most of simplicity. There are few petrol-engined cars that creep under the magic 100g/km barrier at this price point, and it’s as challenging to own and drive as a pre-completed crossword.

Not sure about what super-slick gearshift means...

    I could make a joke ...

But I think they just mean easy/smooth shift action when going through the gears.

I guess they haven't driven hondas/acuras. You want smooth shifting, try an old GSR or 90's Civic.

Yup. My old Accord had awesome shift quality.

Apparently the Mazda 3 is supposed to be top of the heap in that department now. Haven't tried one.
