They do not need to be given up, The mirage is sold in some markets and trim levels with 2 bulbs in the fog light housing. One for DRL and one for Fog.

Mohammad is correct. My 2018 GT has 2 bulbs. A regular incandescent for the DRL & a halogen for the "Fog" lights. I've got pics, but for some reason, it won't let me attach them...It keeps telling me "this JPEG image has the incorrect file extension" & I'm too stoopid to figure it out...
I didn't know what to do, so I didn't do anything

Going to attach a video of the issue when I have time and it is dark out.

    From what I can see:

There are fog lights, in a separate housing below the headlights.

DRL, in the same headlight housing with a separate bulbl

    Headlights in the headlight housing.

High beams in the headlight housing (same lightbulb as the headlights).

What I want to do is turn on the headlights and fog lights at the same time but have not been able to from what I can tell.

The OEM "Fog" lights (if so equipped) will work if they are selected on & the head lights are on low beam... They turn off if you select High Beam.

Take a look, I cannot make the foglights turn on in the dark, in the daytime with just the daytime running lights they turn on.

Your es DOES NOT have fog lights.

Read the brochure, it explains that you need GT to get the fogs

I just attached pictures of foglights and it is for sure an ES.

Spoke with mechanic, he says we can either manually bypass with mechanical fix or try to reprogram ecu.

Looking to buy an ebay ecu or one from scrapyard to learn to hack them.

    Wanting to fix:

    1. enable fog lights and headlights at same time.
    2. automatic headlight off switch override (switch off headlights even in dark)
    3. Add cruise control

Your "daytime running lights" photo has the parking lights on.Those are not the Daytime running lights. You need to turn off all lights and you will see what the Daytime Running Lights are.

The DRL photo is with all the lights switched off.

The bottom lights are the fogs and I will figure out how to turn these lights on and the headlights on at the same time!

Only the NOIR & GT trim level come with fog lights in Canada. If fog lights were added at the factory, it would be listed on your window sticker. Are they listed?

My Forester has DRL. Even though it is a manual, the DRL go off when the parking brake is set. I don't think it is uncommon for a running vehicle put in park to have its DRL turn off.

I have to believe most fog lights work in unison with low beams. Don't fog lights enhance low beam visibility????

Anyone with factory fog lights should be able to confirm that for us.
